| Bio: | CHARACTER: Name: Jacob Ethan Sheppard Age: 33 D.O.B.: July 4th, 1976 Blood Type: B- Race: Hunter Level: N/A Powers: None Physical Description: For all his utter abhorrence of everything supernatural, Jacob looks like he could have something more than human in his DNA. Of course, as far as he knows, his entire family is human and that‘s that. He‘s two and a half inches over six feet, he‘s muscled with nearly nonexistent fat stores, and he can look downright goddamn mean. Jacob has deep green eyes and dark brown, nearly black hair. When you mix his build, the ruggedly carved features of his face and the look in his eyes, you end up with a hunter who looks like you really do not want to mess with him. Jacob carries no tattoos, but multiple scars from a lifetime of hunting. Nothing particular in note, however, except for a bullet wound just above his left hip from when he was shot with his own weapon at thirteen. In his own time, he wears militaristic styles and colors. Boots, cargo pants, some sort of dark wife beater shirt or military-ish button up. At his cover job, it’s all suits and pressed ties, and shiny shiny shoes. Personality: Cold and purposefully lacking any display of a sort of softer array of emotions, Jacob has no mercy for the supernatural world. He’s methodical, he’s trained, and he obliterates anything in his path. Prone to suspicion with a side of paranoia, from having grown up among supernatural hunters, he has little connection to this world. That is not to say that he’s remotely dreamy, only that he’s never been grounded in seeing both sides of anything. There’s his way, and then there’s the dead way. The secret he unknowingly carries would devastate him and how he views the world around him. In fact, it is quite possible that upon learning it, he would simply slit his own throat, and not try to redeem himself for his past deeds. Sexuality: Heterosexual History: Jacob’s father, Simon Sheppard, was a hunter for nearly twenty-five years when he made one nearly fatal mistake. Thanks to the intervention of a grueling three day hunt that ended bloodily, and a fifth of Jack, Simon ended up bedding a much younger woman who sidled up to him in the bar where he went to drink away the memories of dead bodies and collateral damage. His compromised state was important because he missed the signs of the fact that the ‘young woman’ was in fact a centuries old Siren, by the name of Clara. After the fact, when he woke the next morning, Simon realized what had happened and was sick to his stomach. Off and on, for the next year (or at least a good deal of a year), he tracked the siren who had shared his bed. He finally caught up to her about ten months after their initial meeting, only to find her with a small bundle cradled in her arms. Clara immediately handed over the baby, their child, named Jacob. In a spurt of rare mercy, Simon allowed the siren to escape. Some days he would regret that bitterly, and some days he would look at his young son and remember why he did allow her to go free. Jacob was raised as a hunter, and knew no other alternatives existed for life, at least no alternatives that seemed remotely palatable. Told by his father at a very young age that his mother had been killed by a supernatural creature, he grew up furiously hating anything and everything supernatural. Not knowing the fact that it had been in fact Simon’s first wife (Emylee) who had been murdered, not his own mother, the idea of vengeance is absolute. It has been nearly thirty four years since his true mother was allowed to escape and live, fourteen since his father died. Due to the fact that he had already been forty-five by the time Jacob had been born, it was rather astounding that the man lived to the age of sixty-three as an active hunter. On his own since the age of nineteen, Jacob’s moved from only killing those ‘monsters’ who had killed innocents (as his father did) to killing anything supernatural he had come across. Now that he’s been orphaned by the violence of the supernatural world, to his mind. Recently having moved to Ann Arbor as his base of operations, he is still going out on ‘missions’ to hunt down and kill the threats to the non-supernatural world. Since the Light of May: He simply cannot believe the naivety of people, believing what these monsters and freaks are saying. That they‘re harmless, that they simply wish for life. He knows their true game, and the fact that those around him are quite happy to play House with vampires and werewolves? Yeah, he‘s not happy about that. On top of everything else, his calling is now illegal. A nuisance, and not much more, but they might as well have spat in his face. The monsters will soon turn on them, and because Jacob firmly believes this, he refuses to even consider stopping what he does. Special Skills/Abilities: Fighting skills - His father, a former SEAL, taught him everything he knew about unarmed combat. He’s brutal, fast, and not prone to worrying if he’ll get injured or not. Tracking ability - Whether it’s through a forest, or through newspapers, Jacob can track nearly anything if he’s got even the smallest clue. Personal Weaknesses: Self-Destructive - On a hunt, in a fight, in day to day life, Jacob’s strong vein of self-destructive behavior is likely to end him nastily one of these days. His focus/obsession with completing a hunt can sometimes (often times, really) come to the detriment of his own health. Allergy - Fluffy things make Jacob sneeze. He’s allergic to cats and dogs, really, but this means he does tend to sneeze around weres. Of course, he can’t really take advantage of that in any way, because someone could simply be keeping furry pets, or have played with furry things sometime that day. He takes medication to subdue the allergy, but on a long-term hunt, it sometimes wears off at inopportune moments. Secret - Even he doesn’t know about his mother’s true nature. This revelation will likely come out somewhere along the way, and the realization of his parentage will forever shake/change his world. However, it is unlikely he’ll suffer an attack of conscience. Personal Strengths: Relentlessness - Hunting is what matters, and in no way is he prepared to fail. No, never. He will keep going, despite nearly anything, to complete his objective. He may get injured, he might push himself to his limits, but whatever thing he’s hunting is going the hell down, and that’s that. Methodical Nature - Jacob is careful, attentive to detail and complete in his work. He researches thoroughly, comes prepared for nearly any circumstance. His bookshelves are full of books on supernatural subjects, a closet is devoted solely to weapons, and he does not do anything half-assed. Belief - No, not in a god or a goddess, but that he is doing the right thing by hunting anything and everything supernatural. He’s fervent in the belief that the supernatural world is evil, and that every member of it needs/deserves to die. Family: Simon Sheppard - Father (now deceased) Clara - Mother (Siren, location unknown) Emylee Sheppard - Simon’s deceased wife, her brutal murder was what sparked Simon’s spiral into being a hunter. Jacob believes her to be his mother, although records actually tell us that she died a quarter century before his birth. Aria Lewis - Sister (Siren, he has no idea she's his sister, or what she is) Living Conditions: Jacob lives in an apartment, in a bad part of town. Purposefully chosen for the fact that few would look at him twice if he returned with blood spattered on his clothes, it suits his needs. Inside his apartment however, it’s all squared away, everything in its place. Not out of any sort of OCD personality trait, but simply because it was how he was trained as a kid.
